Our Allied Health Assistants work under the direct supervision of our multi-discipline health care team to provide therapeutic and program-related support to our participants in a variety roles. They are programs delivered from our multiple teams including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech pathology.

AHAs offer great support in group therapies as well as 1:1 therapies in all settings including home-based, clinic-based, hydrotherapy and gym-based as well. They can also be useful in helping to implement programs or routines that involve frequent repetition, such as exercise programs, communication programs or training in daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning and shopping.

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Assists with the provision of client-based services in a home, clinic, or day centre setting. They help construct, adjust and fit specific aids and equipment, including splints and AT. Under direction of an Occupational Therapist, assists clients in self-care, skills of daily living, diversional and other rehabilitation activities

Physiotherapy Assistant

Assist clients with exercise and rehab programs, delivers self-care and rehabilitation equipment to the patient at home, or in a clinic setting. They can be seen in gyms or pools as well and can assit in sessions where more than 1 staff members is needed in any clinical setting. They also adjust equipment to suit the client’s needs and demonstrates the use of equipment for sessions.

Speech Pathology Assistant

These AHAs assist in the provision of therapy to clients once a Speech Pathologist has assessed the client and made a suitable program. They assist and train clients in the use of electronic and non-electronic alternative communication systems. Helps to make or prepare equipment to use with clients and work closely with our Speech Pathology team on a regular basis. They are also able to assist in group therapy settings as well.
